Have a cold or allergies? These meds are safe for breastfeeding, but use them sparingly:
- Claritin (Loratadine)
- Zyrtec (Cetirizine)
- Benadryl (Diphenhydramine) [Note: you may notice a temporary supply decrease with this drug. It is not recommended until a mature milk supply is well established.]
Sudafed PE (Phenylephrine) has been shown to be moderately safe, so use it only if you really have to.
Pseudoephedrine (the original Sudafed) should be avoided completely! It's not good for baby, and it can really dry up your milk supply.
